Common questions
What does the free trial include?
Fifteen days with every feature unlocked. After the trial, MacTidy costs $19.99 a year. See the download page for current availability and requirements.
How does MacTidy free up disk space on a Mac?
It looks for rebuildable caches, logs, large files, duplicate files, old downloads, developer build output and app leftovers, then shows the list so you can choose what to remove. Start with Mac disk cleanup or clearing Mac cache files.
Will MacTidy delete files without asking?
Cleanup screens give you a review step before removal. You can untick files you want to keep. Separate permanent-erasure tools are explicitly labelled and should only be used when you mean to erase something for good.
Does MacTidy recover deleted files?
No. MacTidy is a cleanup and security tool and does not recover files. No recovery tool can guarantee results: it depends on the drive, encryption, snapshots and whether the data has been overwritten. If you deleted something today, stop writing to the affected drive, check Trash and Time Machine, then read how Mac file recovery works.
How do I improve Mac privacy and iOS privacy settings?
Review app permissions, location access and the data you share. Our Mac privacy guide explains the Mac tools, while the iOS privacy settings guide covers changes you make on your iPhone. For a more private operating system setup, start with the Private OS explainer.
Is MacTidy a replacement for antivirus?
No. macOS already includes built-in protections. MacTidy adds an on-demand local malware scan, login-item review, security settings checks and privacy permission review. Read our guide to Mac antivirus and local malware scan guide.
